Dan Shaw, Senior Ecologist/Vegetation Specialist, MN Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR), will update us on BWSR's continuing success with their Lawns to Legumes programs and their latest initiatives for pollinators and biodiversity. What's been accomplished and what lies ahead?
Minnesota's Lawns to Legumes program offers grants and technical assistance to establish pollinator-friendly native plants on residential lawns. This first-in-the-nation program was started as a pilot in 2019 with money from the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund and has proven to be very popular. Since 2019 this program has created more than 3.5 million square feet of pollinator habitat.
